Prepping is critical to ensure proper coverage, adhesion, texture, and quality. Depending on your project’s condition, we take the following steps to create a solid foundation for powder coat application:

Powder Coating

A tougher and more durable alternative to paint, powder coating adds a protective finishing layer to your project. This long-lasting coating is less prone to scratching and chipping than regular paint and helps protect against corrosion. We use an electrostatic gun to apply powder to each part before curing in our oven at 400℉.

Packaging

To keep parts scratch free, we carefully package in foam and palletize them for transit. If your parts require special packaging, provide the material and we will pack the parts according to your needs.

Operating out of two side by side buildings, Powder Coating Services of Michigan and Michigan Laser Manufacturing strive to manufacture high quality parts and execute flawless powder coating for both commercial clients and individuals. Our team has over 45 years of combined powder coating experience and over 65 years of combined metal fabrication expertise.

FAQ

What materials can we powder coat?

We powder coat all metals including aluminum. We do not do ceramic coating, hot coat, jet coat, or translucent colors.

How much does powder coating cost?

Please call or email us for an estimate. The pricing is dependent on the size of the piece, the number of pieces, and any prep work required before painting.

What can I do to prepare my parts for powder coating?

All wire, rubber, bearings, bushings, grease, stickers, labels, and oil must be removed from the part prior to drop off. To ensure it can be fully coated, the part should be completely disassembled. Parts that are already powder coated must be stripped before we receive them.

What colors are available?

We stock over 400 colors. We carry Tiger, Prismatic, PPG, Sherwin-Williams, and Cardinal powders. If we don’t have the color you need, we can order any powder or you can supply your own.

Are there any size restrictions for parts?

Our equipment can accommodate parts up to the following dimensions:

Media Blasting Cabinet: 5’ x 1’ x 1’
Paint Booth: 20’ x 9’4” x 5’7”
Oven: 20’ x 9’4” x 5’7”
Phosphate Wash Tank: 36” x 36” x 36”
